What is a core deposit?

The core is the unit you will be removing from your vehicle to be replaced with a Rack Doctor rack and pinion. The core deposit is an additional cost added to the cost of the rack and pinion that acts as a deposit until your old unit is returned to Rack Doctor in rebuildable condition.

How long do I have to return my core?

All cores must be returned within 40 days of the date of shipment. Please note that all cores must be returned in rebuildable condition.

How will I receive my core deposit back?

All rack and pinion cores returned to Rack Doctor are checked meticulously by experienced staff. After receiving your core and deeming it rebuildable, your core deposit refund will be returned to the original method of payment within 72-96 hours (business days, Monday-Friday), and you will receive notification via e-mail.

What is a rebuildable core?

Rebuildable cores are cores that are not excessively damaged. Less than 1% of returned cores are non-rebuildable. Cores in non-rebuildable condition are cores that are bent, broken, disassembled, overly rusted, or missing parts.

How do I return my core?

Please visit our Help Center, where you can print your shipping return label. When you are ready to return the core, simply place it inside of the same box the unit was delivered in and seal the box appropriately.

What do I need to return with my core?

Inside the packing slip on the outside of your box, there is a perforated core tag. The top part (the smaller side with the wire) needs to be attached to your rack and pinion. This allows Rack Doctor to see exactly who and where this rack is coming from. Rack Doctor highly remains retaining the bottom portion of your core tag in a safe, dry environment (such as the glove box of your vehicle), as it has your invoice number included on the tag.
